The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment today (Tuesday) with the Tel Aviv District Court against Nissan Aviv, 39, from Bat Yam, for espionage offenses of contacting a foreign agent and passing information to the enemy, after he provided information to a hostile entity via Telegram in exchange for payment.
According to the indictment, filed by Attorney Tal Selgnik of the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office, in late 2025, Aviv established contact, through a Facebook dating group, with a profile named "Elizabeth Brown," and shared details about his life with her.
As part of the contact, "Elizabeth" offered to connect him with a friend of hers who could assist him, and said that that friend would contact him.
About a month and a half later, a foreign agent contacted Aviv on Telegram and asked him to send a video in which he introduced himself, indicated his place of residence, and described his medical condition, in exchange for a financial payment.
After Aviv did what was requested, he was transferred a payment of about $20 to a digital wallet, and was told: "Don't tell anyone.".
The agent then asked him: "Now do you want to earn a few hundred dollars?" After answering in the affirmative, Aviv provided information between February and April of this year, during Operation "Harry's Roar," about the locations of missile landings, the state of emergency in Israel, and damage to infrastructure, and received a payment of about $60 in return.
According to the indictment, Aviv did this knowing that he was in contact with a foreign agent hostile to Israel, and that the information he was providing could be of benefit to the enemy.
Attached are the indictment and the request for detention until the end of the proceedings.
