Sometimes the right idea comes at exactly the right time: Yoni Z, the singer and composer who has become one of the most exciting voices in the religious music scene, releases his new single for the summer. ""redemption"".
""I was sitting in the studio and the idea started to build itself in my head," says Yoni. "I did a 30-second demo and realized I had to get it out by the beginning of the summer.""
What started as a spark turned in just one week - from concept to finished product - into one of the most exciting songs he has created to date.
""Geula" deals with redemption as a multifaceted concept: not only the final redemption of all of Israel, but the personal redemption that each person carries in their heart. Some pray for a match, some hope for the good news of children, and some seek salvation through livelihood. The lyrics in the song are structured in two layers: those who listen on a collective level will hear a song about national redemption, and those who listen from the heart will find their own personal story there.
""That's what happened to me in the last 18 months," Yoni adds openly. "I went from being eternally single to being married with a baby girl, thank God, a few weeks ago. My personal redemption is also here, within the song.""
Musically, Yoni Z continues his typical path - drawing inspiration from diverse musical worlds, African and Indian, and integrating them into a world of authentic Jewish content.
The song was produced in collaboration with Joel Weiss, the talented producer who has quickly risen to the top of the industry. "Yoel is a pop musical genius," says Yoni, "and we have many more songs together on the way.""
The song also appears Azi, a rapper of Malay descent, in a rap section that created a special moment: "We wanted rap that wasn't geisha - something more optimistic and bright. Azi brought exactly the color we were looking for.""
""Geula" is the first single that Yoni is releasing this summer, especially for the American audience who loves and appreciates this genre. In the second part of the summer, Yoni promises music with a more prominent Hebrew presence.
