The IDF is interested in launching proactive operations to arrest deserters in Haredi concentrations as early as next week.
According to a report this evening (Wednesday) by Roy Yanovsky on 'Kan News', the IDF requested police assistance for this purpose, both in security and in preparation for disturbances - if any.
In the coming days, the police and the army will conduct situation assessments, with current estimates indicating hundreds of police officers will be assigned to assist.
The IDF Spokesperson's Office stated: "Joint planning work is currently underway with the Israel Police to coordinate the military police's enforcement activities in the public space. We emphasize that coordination is critical and affects the spaces in which the IDF can operate to make arrests.".
In the past, Police Commissioner Danny Levy refused to allocate forces for such operations, but a recent High Court decision criticized the police for their lack of enforcement.
However, Haredim 10 learned that in assessing the current situation, the Commissioner for Relations with the Haredi public said: "We will not be the instrument of the draft law.".
