After Democratic Party Chairman Yair Golan was recorded presenting his political doctrine at an event with activists and declaring that he "does not rule out the Haredim," and claiming that the current discourse on the conscription law is populist - Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid and Yisrael Beiteinu on shooting inside the APC of the Left Bloc.
The chairman of the 'Unity' party, Naftali Bennett, today addressed what he called "compromises" by Eisenkot and Yair Golan on the subject of conscription - and attacked:
"Israel is in an existential moment. The State of Israel will not survive when more and more of its citizens are educated to 'die or be drafted,' do not serve in the IDF, and do not join the workforce. The working and serving public cannot continue to bear the economic and security burden alone. This is national suicide in slow motion, and I will not let it happen.".
Bennett added: "I want it to be clear to everyone: In the next government headed by me, there will be no compromises on conscription issues. There will be no political deals at the expense of those serving in the army, and no one will receive a 30 percent discount. In the next government, everyone, everyone, will enlist. Whoever does not serve will not receive a shekel from the state. It's that simple. When it comes to the security of the state, there are no compromises."
Yair Lapid attacked after him: "All the talk about 'compromises with the Haredim' is a political mistake and a moral error. After forty years, we have a real opportunity for real change. For the first time, the possibility has been created to recruit young Haredim, to require core education, to integrate them into the labor market. For the first time, there is a strong chance to stop the evasion and return the money to the serving and working public. Let's not miss it for short-term political gains.".
The chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu faction, MK Oded Forer, also attacked Yair Golan's words, for not ruling out sitting in a government "with Deri and Gafni, the promoters of evasion": "The evasion government cannot be replaced for another political scheme. Anyone who wants real change must say clearly: a service law for everyone. No exemptions, no deals and no gifts for Deri and Goldknopf.
""The public wants equality, not another round. Anyone who wants to be a partner in the next government must commit: recruitment for everyone, without exemptions and without bypass roads for evaders.".
