Will the 'Democrats' Party cooperate with the Haredi parties? In a recording published last night on Channel 14, the party's chairman, Yair Golan, was recorded presenting his political doctrine at an event with activists and declaring: "They ask me, do you rule out the Haredi? I do not rule out the Haredi, absolutely not.".
But this morning he is already trying to back down. In a tweet he posted on his X account, alongside a video, Golan wrote: "The Haredim will be out. This is a promise.".

""I understand that Channel 14 is again trying to take half-sentences and take things out of context, so I say it most clearly: The Haredi parties have disqualified themselves. Period," Golan said in the video.
He added: "You can't encourage evasion during wartime. You can't live at the state's expense without giving back. You can't force millions of Israelis to marry, how to live, where to travel and what to wear. You can't continue to rob the public treasury and live off the tax money of the working public.".
Golan claimed in the video that "they took half-sentences and took things out of context," but in a video published on Channel 14 he was recorded saying: "If now the possibility of forming a government is conditional on an ultra-Orthodox party joining, I will vote in favor on the condition that Likud, Smotrich and Ben Gvir are not there.".
In his speech, Golan also addressed the issue of ultra-Orthodox recruitment into the IDF, claiming that the current discourse is populist.
""We need to work mainly smartly with indirect pressures, not with direct pressures. I want to say here that the entire conscription law that is being talked about is tainted with populism," Golan attacked.
He concluded his response to the issue by explaining the complexity of the process: "All those who oppose what the government is doing, rightly so, but what they are proposing will not immediately recruit thousands of Haredim tomorrow morning. It is a process.".

Pollster Shlomo Filber responded: "The Haredim have been Netanyahu's 'natural partners' for thirty years. For Yair Golan and his gang, they are contractors for removing the right from power. Who will truly take care of the Haredi public, over the long term?""
He later added: "Yesterday, Yair Golan returned to the right-wing bloc in general, and Smotritz in particular, many votes from 'death eaters' who were really debating whether to vote for Bennett or Lieberman in order to receive 'real' ultra-Orthodox recruitment.".
""Yesterday, Yair Golan threw Bennett, Hendel and Shavuot Raanan under the wheels of the bus.".
