The persecution of the High Court and Gali Baharav explains: The Israel Land Authority Council approved today (Sunday) the amendment to the eligibility rules for the 'Target Price' program, according to which those defined by the IDF as "required conscription who have not regularized their status" will not be able to participate in lotteries for discounted housing.
According to the decision, an amendment was made to the council's decision file, concerning "target price housing" tenders.
As part of the amendment, it was determined that, starting from the date the decision comes into effect, eligibility to participate in the lotteries will be conditioned on the fact that "according to IDF data, the individual or each of the spouses are not defined by the IDF as being subject to conscription who have not regularized their status.".
The new section was incorporated into the decisions dealing with the eligibility conditions for the discounted projects.
The practical meaning is that candidates who are defined by the defense establishment as those who have not settled their draft obligation will not be able to participate in lotteries to purchase apartments within the framework of government housing programs, even if they meet the other criteria.
MK Meir Porush responded sharply, claiming that this is targeted discrimination against the Haredi public: "Only uncircumcised jurists can formulate criteria in a way that discriminates only against Torah scholars who are persecuted by the authorities, while non-servants from other sectors continue to receive the same rights.".
""Now it's clear - they are not interested in the well-being of the soldiers, but only in the persecution of the Torah world.".
