Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's inner circle is currently working to promote a strategic move designed to disqualify the Ra'am party from running in the election campaign.
According to a report this evening (Sunday) by Suleiman Maswad on Channel 13, the goal is to lead to the declaration of the party's parent movement - the Islamic Movement (Southern Faction) - as a "terrorist organization.".
The reason will be: transferring donation funds to the Gaza Strip during the war.
According to the report, the move is in the initial stages of development.
Sources close to Netanyahu claim that during the months of fighting in Gaza, the movement transferred funds and aid to the Strip - which, in their opinion, defines it as a body that supports and assists terrorist organizations in times of war.
In order to implement the complex move, the political echelon will be required to overcome a number of significant legal and security hurdles.
Turning the 'Southern Faction' into a terrorist organization will require legislative adjustments in the Knesset and changes to definitions in the Counter-Terrorism Law.
The move requires receiving professional and official opinions from the relevant security bodies, primarily the Shin Bet.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office did not comment on the report.
Tamansour Abbas responded: "Netanyahu aims to decide the upcoming elections by disqualifying the National Security Council in an anti-democratic manner. The Shin Bet's duty is to act in a stately and legal manner and maintain the order of the democratic regime and its institutions, and not be a tool in the hands of the political echelon during an election period.".
"Our response to this anti-democratic move will be at the ballot box.".
