MK Tali Gottlieb of the Likud submitted today (Sunday) a request to the Knesset committee not to lift her immunity, in order to prevent her from being prosecuted.
This comes after last week, Attorney Gali Baharav filed an indictment against her after she revealed the identity of a Shin Bet agent when she tweeted that Shikma Bresler's partner serves in the organization.
Gottlieb wrote: "Miara persecuted me as a member of Knesset, even though it is clear that my actions were done within the framework and for the fulfillment of my duties, and she made sure to create headlines about me in order to blacken me as someone who points and accuses Ronen Bar, head of the Shin Bet, and others of the October attack.".
""Miara protects those she finds convenient to protect and is in no hurry to investigate and check leaks, incitement, calls for disobedience, and so on. Miara is persecuting me personally because of my struggle against her as someone who is criminal in her position and busy tarnishing and thwarting the right-wing government.".
""Conducting criminal proceedings against a member of Knesset who is not afraid to criticize the Legal Advice to the Government in general and its advisors in particular, due to statements made within the framework of her duties and in the performance of her duties, will cause real damage to the representation of the electorate in the Knesset. On the other hand, not conducting the proceedings, considering the seriousness of the offense and its circumstances as stated, will not harm the public interest at all.".
""In light of this, I would request that the Knesset determine that I have substantive immunity under Section 1 of the law, as well as procedural immunity as stipulated in Section 4 of the law. I would request that this request be forwarded to the Knesset committee for discussion as soon as possible.".
