United States President Donald Trump responded today (Sunday) to the storm surrounding negotiations for a new nuclear agreement with Iran, making it clear that he has no intention of rushing.
In a post he published on his social media, President Trump emphasized that the negotiations are being conducted in an orderly and constructive manner, and instructed his representatives to act without time pressure.
The president wrote: "One of the worst deals ever made by our country was the Iran nuclear deal, promoted and signed by Barack Hussein Obama and the Obama administration’s absolute amateurs. The deal paved a direct path for Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
Not so with the deal currently being negotiated with Iran by the Trump administration, in fact the exact opposite.
Negotiations are progressing in an orderly and constructive manner, and I have informed my representatives not to rush to reach an agreement, as time is on our side. The blockade will remain in full force until an agreement is reached, ratified, and signed.
Both sides need to take their time and do things right. There must be no mistakes.
Our relationship with Iran is becoming more professional and effective. However, they must understand that they are not allowed to develop or obtain nuclear weapons or a nuclear bomb.
"I would like to thank, so far, all the countries of the Middle East for their support and cooperation, which will be further strengthened with their joining the historic Abraham Accords countries, and who knows, maybe the Islamic Republic of Iran will also want to join. Thank you for your attention to the issue.".
Earlier, President Trump was asked by an ABC reporter whether an agreement with Iran was close to being reached - and replied: "I can't talk about the deal, but that's entirely up to me. If there is news, it will only be good news. I don't close bad deals.".

Prime Minister Netanyahu published a post on the social network X in which he referred, using an image created with artificial intelligence, to the agreement being formed between the United States and Iran.
This is the Prime Minister's first response to the agreement.
In the picture, Netanyahu stands next to President Trump, shoulder to shoulder, with the flags of the two countries behind them, and below it is written in bold letters: "Iran will never have nuclear weapons.".
