The commander of the 401st Armored Brigade, Colonel Meir Biderman, was seriously injured today (Wednesday) and a reserve combat officer was moderately injured as a result of an explosive drone falling on the house he was staying in in southern Lebanon.
An IDF reserve soldier was also slightly injured in the incident.
The fighters and the reservist were evacuated to receive medical treatment at the hospital, and their families were notified.
In October 2024, after the fall of the 401st Brigade commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ahsan Daksa, in the battle of Jabaliya, Biderman was appointed commander of the brigade. He took office during a particularly complex period, under intense fighting, and led the brigade's forces in offensive operations in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
Lieutenant Colonel Biderman assumed command of the brigade at a difficult time, when the operational reality demanded stable command and a presence at the front. Since taking office, he has made sure to be alongside the fighters in the field, closely leading the fighting and strengthening the brigade's fighting spirit even under fire.
Biderman, 41, married and a father of three from Modi'in, enlisted in the Armored Corps in 2003. After completing a tank commanders' course and an officers' course, he commanded an armor division during the Second Intifada and participated in operational combat in various sectors.
Throughout his years of service, he held a number of key command positions, including commander of Battalion 53, commander of Battalion 195, deputy commander of the Paratrooper Brigade, commander of the Valley Brigade, and deputy commander of Division 162.
