The State Naming Committee has approved the new official name of the Givat Harel settlement, which will now be called 'Carmei Oz'. The decision comes after the settlement's regularization was completed as part of the steps being taken by the State of Israel to regularize the young settlement in Judea and Samaria.

Carmei Oz, established more than two decades ago in West Binyamin, has grown and developed over the years through a pioneering grip on the territory, dealing with security challenges, and the perseverance of the families in the area.

In recent years, the Binyamin Council has worked together with government ministries to promote the settlement's regularization, its connection to infrastructure, and its development as a permanent settlement in every sense.

As part of the arrangement, the municipal separation between Givat Harel and the nearby Givat Haroeh was also carried out, a move that made it possible to promote independent planning, regulated development, and full recognition of the settlement as a separate and developing unit.

The head of the Binyamin Council and the chairman of the Yesha Council, Yisrael Gantz, welcomed the decision: "This is a very significant day for the dear families in Karmi Oz and for the entire settlement. A settlement that was established out of faith, pioneering spirit and love of the land, receives further reinforcement from the State of Israel today with the determination of its official name after its regularization.".

""The name Carmi Oz connects the magnificent vineyards that surround the settlement with the fortitude, faith, and perseverance of the pioneering families who built a home here, held on to the land, and did not give up even in difficult moments.".

""We are in a historical period in which settlement in Benjamin, Judea and Samaria is moving from a temporary concept to a concept of permanence, growth and long-term development. Carmi Oz is part of this great move.".

""I congratulate the pioneering residents who have held on to the place for years, the professionals in the council, the government ministries and all the partners who worked to reach this moment. We will continue to build, regulate and strengthen the settlement throughout Binyamin, Judea and Samaria.".

The Carmi Oz settlement said: "At a good hour, another milestone has been completed in the process of regularizing our settlement. We are happy about the choice of name, and its connection to the essence, the people and the land.

""Giv'at Harel, which was established 28 years ago, will be called "Oz Vineyards," a name that combines the roots of the vineyard with the strength of the wind, between mountain agriculture in the past and present, and between Hannah's prayer, 'And give strength to Oz for his king and exalt the horn of his anointed' since the days of the Tabernacle.".
