As part of a special government meeting to mark Jerusalem Day, the decision initiated by the Ministry of Defense, led by the Engineering and Construction Division, the Jerusalem Municipality, and the Israel Land Authority, to promote the establishment of the new IDF Museum, an office for the Minister of Defense, and the relocation of the Jerusalem Recruitment Office - to a new complex in Ma'alot Dafna, near Ammunition Hill, on what was the UNRWA compound - was approved today (Sunday).

The move, which is being promoted as part of strategic cooperation, is expected to be a significant engine for the development of the city, for strengthening its national institutions, and for expanding the activities of the security system there.
As part of the decision, the Ministry of Defense will be allocated a complex of approximately 36 dunams between Mahal, Neter and Shlomo Zalman Sharagai streets, for the purpose of establishing the new IDF Museum and an advanced recruitment bureau, accessible and adapted to the needs of the future.
The new IDF Museum is expected to tell the story of the establishment of the IDF and the State of Israel and combine exhibition areas, educational activities, conferences, and value-based content for youth, soldiers, and the general public.
At the same time, the new recruitment office will relocate from the old existing building in the city center and will provide more advanced and accessible conditions for recruits from Jerusalem and the surrounding area.
Defense Minister Israel Katz: "The government's decision today that we led is a decision of sovereignty, Zionism, and security. There is nothing more symbolic and just than establishing the new IDF recruitment bureau and the institutions of the defense establishment precisely on the ruins of the UNRWA compound, an organization whose employees participated in the massacres, murders, and atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists on October 7. In the place where an organization operated that became part of the terror and incitement mechanism against Israel, institutions will be established that will strengthen Jerusalem, the IDF, and the State of Israel.".
""The new IDF Museum will tell the story of Israel's heroism and resurrection, the new recruitment office will welcome the next generation of fighters and defenders of the state, and the new Defense Minister's Office will serve as the leadership of the defense establishment. This is a clear message to all our enemies: We continue to build, strengthen, and deepen our hold on Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Israel, with strength.".
Minister of Construction and Housing, Haim Katz: "Establishing the IDF Museum and the new recruitment office in the former UNRWA compound is a necessary and meaningful move. In the heart of the capital, we are transferring space from the use of a hostile international body in favor of preserving Israel's heritage and improving conditions for recruits. We will continue to promote development and planning that will strengthen the status of Jerusalem and the state's institutions there.".
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon: "This is historic news for the city of Jerusalem, which is reinforced by the decision made as part of the Jerusalem Day events. The establishment of the IDF Museum and the new recruitment office in the heart of the city, near Ammunition Hill, is a clear statement about the unbreakable connection between the IDF and the capital of Israel.
""The new complex will become a national center of education, heritage and values for future generations of fighters and for all Israeli citizens. This move is an integral part of the tremendous momentum the city is experiencing. It will strengthen our national institutions, improve service to Jerusalemite recruits and contribute to the continued development and prosperity of Jerusalem.".
