Senior US administration officials are calling on the United Arab Emirates to occupy the island of Lavan - an island that belongs to Iran and has a strategic location in the Persian Gulf, where the regime's central energy infrastructure is located.

According to a report this evening (Saturday) in the British Daily Telegraph, the island has been attacked in the past in secret attacks by the United Arab Emirates.
The article quoted a former senior American security official: "Take them! Better Emirati boots on the ground instead of ours.".
The move is considered part of the "Dubai 2.0" strategy – transforming the Emirates into a new regional center after the war.
Today, the New York Times reported that Israel and the United States are completing intensive preparations for the possibility of renewed fighting in Iran.
According to the report, the Pentagon is preparing to resume fighting in the coming days.
Two senior Middle East officials told the American daily that the preparations in Israel and the United States are the largest in scope since the ceasefire came into effect.
The report also states that President Donald Trump's senior advisers have begun formulating plans for returning to war, in case he decides to break the deadlock in talks with the help of bombs.
The announcement comes after Trump's visit to China ended, and after he expressed disappointment at the rejection of his offer to Iran. Trump's rhetorical shift has already begun, and he has stated several times in recent days that he will have to return to Iran to "finish the job.".
The operation may also be called by a different name, to emphasize that it is a different operation and not a continuation of the previous one, which began on February 28.
However, President Trump, who returned from China, has not yet made a decision about his next steps.
