Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided: He does not intend to attend talks at the President's residence to formulate a plea agreement.

According to a report this evening (Wednesday) on Channel 12, the decision was made after ten days in which Netanyahu did not respond to President Yitzhak Herzog's initiative, and after a deep internal dispute between his lawyers and his family members and close advisors regarding the required response.

Those around the Prime Minister sharply attacked the proposal for talks at the President's residence.

""The president's initiative is spin," said senior officials in Netanyahu's entourage. "It's complete nonsense, a set-up that tries to stall for time and avoid dealing with the pardon request.".

According to senior officials in his circle, Netanyahu himself is close to a final decision not to agree to the initiative, and to continue pressuring Herzog on the issue of the pardon.

The decision contradicts the position of his lawyers, who believe that it is in his legal interest to hold the talks at the presidential residence.

Despite this position, it seems that it was the position of the family and close advisors that tipped the scales.

President Herzog addressed the issue today at the 'President's Conference for a Shared Israeli Tomorrow' and emphasized his expectation that both sides will show up for talks: "The moment one side says it is ready to come to the room, I expect the other side to come to the room as well.".
