Jerusalem is preparing for the great event: After a postponement of over a month due to the security escalation and the war with Iran, 'Kollel Chabad' announced the new date for the central Bar Mitzvah celebration for 124 orphaned boys from all over the country - Sunday, 1 Sivan.
The event, held annually close to the Lubavitcher Rebbe's birthday on the 11th of Nissan, was exceptionally postponed this year at the last minute, due to Home Front Command directives and the unprecedented political-security tensions.
Among the 124 Bar Mitzvah grooms this year are many boys who lost their fathers during the last war and the October Shiv events.
For many families, the holding of the event on its new date, despite the security challenges, represents an exciting closing of a circle of heroism, faith, and Jewish continuity.
The event, produced by the 'Chesed Menachem Mendel' team - the educational division of the 'Kollel', will open in the morning at the Western Wall plaza. The boys will arrive at the holy site, where they will put on tefillin and ascend to the Torah in a powerful group ceremony accompanied by family members.
In the afternoon, a festive and magnificent Mitzvah meal will be held at the Binyanei Hauma Congress Hall, with the participation of rabbis, public figures and leading artists who will come to make the boys happy on their holiday.
Over the past few months, the dedicated team of 'Chesed Menachem Mendel' has accompanied the boys through all stages of preparation – from studying the Bar Mitzvah Parasha to the small details leading up to the big day.
The event is being implemented thanks to the collaboration with the "Keren Meromim", the "I"sh Israel" Foundation in the name of the late Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak Schlossberg, and additional donors, friends of the "Kollel" from Israel and around the world.
