Former Minister Gilad Erdan sharply attacked Defense Minister Yisrael Katz this evening.
In an interview on Ayala Hasson's program on Kan News, Erdan expressed frustration with the government's conduct and revealed that he is examining the continuation of his political path - including the possibility of establishing a new partnership that would break the political stalemate.
During the interview, Erdan referred to the thwarting of his appointment to the position of chairman of Israel Aerospace Industries by Minister Katz. Erdan defined the move as evidence of disruption in the priorities of the political echelon: "If Israel's defense minister is engaged in petty politics in a time of war, instead of finding a solution to the UAV threat - that is an unfortunate symptom.".
Erdan criticized the defense establishment as a whole, noting that as early as 2014 he raised the issue of drones in the defense cabinet and asked to promote solutions, while only now is the system "waking up" to deal with the threat.
Amid reports of his intention to establish a new right-wing party, Erdan admitted that he felt great frustration with the current government composition and the lack of decisions on core issues - such as equal workload and core studies.
Although he emphasized that he has been "a Likud man for 30 years," he did not rule out running in another political framework in the upcoming elections.
""I have not yet decided whether I will return to the political system and in what format," Erdan stated.
He said he is exploring options for finding partners that would make it possible to establish a broad Zionist government that would break the deadlock in which Israeli politics finds itself - between a right-wing government dependent on the ultra-Orthodox parties and a left-wing alternative dependent on the Arab parties.
""This is what I am currently working on," he concluded, "and I will be happy to update as soon as I make a decision.".
