According to a Hamas statement, al-Hayya - who this week was re-elected as Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip - received a phone call from Fatah senior Jibril Rajoub, who expressed sorrow over Azzam's death.
Azzam is the fourth son of Al-Haya to be killed by IDF fire. He was the twin brother of his father Al-Haya, who was killed in an attack in Doha, in which Israel tried to eliminate his father along with the top leadership of the terrorist organization.
In a statement released today by Hamas, the organization condemned his death: "The cowardly Zionist crime that targeted Azzam al-Hayya, the son of the organization's leader in Gaza, is a continuation of the enemy's approach based on harming civilians and the families of Palestinian leaders.
""The crime of the attack against Azzam al-Hayya comes as part of the enemy's failed attempts to influence the will and political positions of the resistance through terror, killing, and psychological pressure.".
