The Lebanese channel LBCI reported today (Wednesday) that the third round of talks between Israel and Lebanon will take place next week at the United States State Department in Washington.
According to the report, the talks are expected to last two consecutive days - between Wednesday and Friday.
The Lebanese delegation to the talks will include the head of the ceasefire supervision mechanism in the Lebanese delegation, Simon Karem, Lebanese Ambassador to the US Nada Hamada Meoud, Deputy Head of the Delegation, Consul Wissam Boutros, as well as a representative from the Lebanese Army.
According to the Lebanese channel, the Lebanese ambassador to the United States was in full coordination with the US Secretary of State's team during two meetings held this week. During the meetings, they discussed preparations for the third round of talks.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said that the issue of a meeting between him and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not yet ripe. He said that any high-level meeting requires massive preparation, in addition to the fact that its timing is important, given that it depends on the success of the negotiations and an agreement on their outcome.
He added that negotiations with Israel and at the same time internal negotiations must be held in order to achieve full sovereignty of the state and the collection of weapons. "We are not moving in the direction of normalization, but towards peace. Lebanon has launched the Arab peace initiative.".
According to him, communication with Hezbollah is carried out through their representatives in the government.
