The defense establishment is pushing for a renewal of the campaign against Iran - and they say: It is necessary to strike additional blows at the Iranians, this has the potential to make them more flexible in negotiations.
According to a report by Doron Kadosh in this morning's IDF Radio program, senior officials claim that in the last campaign, targets that Israel wanted to attack were not attacked - such as the energy and oil facilities in Iran, and that they now believe that there is an opportunity to complete the attacks that were not carried out.
One senior official said: "There is potential for this to lead the Iranians to flex, but it cannot be guaranteed. If we renew the war against them, it will weaken them even further and push them into a corner, but it will not necessarily make them surrender and agree to all the demands in the negotiations.".
With regard to recent developments in the Gulf, the defense establishment estimates that the United States should be allowed to lead the way at this stage.
According to them, it is not right for Israel to intervene now, unless Iran fires at Israel.
The officials also noted that a demonstration was held in the Iranian bazaar the day before yesterday, and emphasized that the economic pressure is increasing. "The blockade is putting a lot of pressure on Iran. Every day that passes puts more pressure on them, but we can't wait forever. If we're going to renew the campaign, it has to happen soon," they said.
