The State Attorney's Office filed indictments today (Sunday) with the Jerusalem District Court against Majed Khalila, 31, Muhammad Sabah, 22, Omar Abu al-Amal, 26, and a 16-year-old boy, for activities as part of a cell inspired by the ISIS organization.
The prosecution is asking the court to order the arrest of the defendants until the end of the legal proceedings against them.
According to the indictments, filed through Attorney Ariel Illoz of the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office, the members of the cell were exposed to extremist ISIS terrorist content, including videos documenting severe acts of violence and training in the production of explosive devices, formed an identification with the organization, and some even joined it and worked to recruit additional members.
The defendants conspired to carry out shooting attacks, car bombings, and the detonation of explosive devices in the Nablus Gate area of Jerusalem and in Kiryat Arba, with the aim of harming civilians and security forces.
The defendants acted to advance the plan, among other things, by collecting information on possible targets, studying how to use weapons, and planning military training in preparation for carrying out the attacks.
According to the indictments, the members of the cell worked together over a period of time, held meetings, watched ISIS content and learned methods of carrying out attacks, including preparing explosive devices and carrying out shootings - and even actually planned to carry out attacks in several guises.
The investigation also reveals that some of the defendants received practical training on how to manufacture explosive devices, collected information on possible targets, and even physically examined security infrastructure as part of their preparation to carry out attacks.
The defendants are charged with, among other things, offenses of membership in a terrorist organization, recruiting members for a terrorist organization, preparation and connection to the commission of an act of terrorism, as well as connection to a terrorist act of murder under aggravated circumstances.
