As part of Operation "Safe Growth," led by Central District Commander Superintendent Amir Cohen, Central District police officers and Central Border Guard soldiers conducted large-scale enforcement activities in the Ben Shemen Forest, Mexico Forest, and the surrounding area, against drivers who are reckless on the highways and in open areas and endanger the public.
Many forces participated in the activity, including lowland police officers from the Modi'in station, YSM fighters, the National Traffic Police, the National Motorcycle Patrol, fighters and volunteers from the Central Border Guard, and the KKL-JNF Supervision Unit.
During the operation, several drivers attempted to escape from the police, but after a chase, they were arrested and their vehicles seized. Five suspects were arrested for questioning, including a driver with a disqualified driver's license and without a proper license, who was driving an off-road motorcycle intended for use on a closed track only.
The detainees were transferred for further treatment to the Shefelah Region Examination Unit and, depending on the findings, will be brought to court for a hearing.
Additionally, as part of the operation, dozens of traffic tickets were filed, vehicles with safety defects and prohibited modifications were taken off the road, and drivers without an appropriate license were located. Some of the vehicles were transferred for further processing and the possibility of confiscation is being considered.
