National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is celebrating a birthday party tonight (Saturday night) at an events complex in the southern moshav - attended by senior police officers.
According to a report on the Ynet website, Commissioner Danny Levy instructed all police officers that participation in the event is permitted only to senior command staff - and officers and police officers who are not members of it are not permitted to attend.
The chairman of the Together party, Naftali Bennett, addressed the party - and went on to threaten on the X network: "Thousands of dedicated and good Israeli policemen and women deserve honest, efficient and state-based command that sets a personal example. I announce: A public servant, in any position and in any government organization, who violates his duty of loyalty to the state and exploits his position in a political and not state-based manner, will be dismissed immediately.".
Ben Gvir responded with a painful sting: "Naftali has no friends and no work connections - send him a cake from the party.".
Senior political commentator Amit Segal responded to Bennett's threats: "The participation of a senior police officer in a mass birthday party for a minister is not grounds for impeachment or embezzlement in the country. It is simply unnecessary, problematic, a finger in the eye, the outrageous mixing of politics and the police during elections, and so on. Pity those who think that this is how they will advance in life.".
