Israel Fire and Rescue calls on the public to obey safety rules so that we can pass Lag BaOmer safely and happily.

""Every year, unfortunately, fires break out that destroy apartments, natural areas, property, and sometimes even cause harm to life. Firefighters are deployed throughout the country on Lag BaOmer to provide a quick response to any trouble that may arise," says Petty Officer Tal Wolbovitz, spokesperson for the Israel Fire and Rescue Service.

""To prevent disasters, parents must show maximum responsibility and ensure that there is a parent accompanying them at every campfire. Do not leave children alone near the campfire, not even for a short time!""

Parents will ensure that the bonfire is lit only in a place designated for this purpose by the local authority and according to the latest guidelines from the Fire and Rescue Commissioner of Israel. In addition, each parent will ensure that basic safety rules are observed:

  • Keep the fire away from residential buildings – Every year we experience cases where residential apartments are damaged by a fire that was too close.
  • Reduce the fire size. A fire that is too large can cause loss of control over the fire and, God forbid, disaster.
  • Never leave a campfire unattended by a parent – not even for a moment.
  • Prepare several buckets of water near the campfire site.
  • When finished, make sure the fire is completely extinguished.

It should be noted that the place where the fire is lit is not close to gas cylinders or electrical cables.

The HVH requests in every language: "We are doing everything possible to get through Lag BaOmer safely and we believe that the parents will make the necessary effort on their part.".

""Parents' vigilance is critical on this night. From our extensive experience, the difference between a proper ending and a disaster, God forbid, can be one moment when there is no adult watching over the place," emphasizes Sub-Tapsar Wolbovitz.

In any case of fear of danger, call 102 for firefighters.
