The Beersheba Customs and VAT Investigations Division of the Tax Authority is conducting an investigation against the owner of a company that builds concrete tombstones, on suspicion that he offset fictitious tax invoices totaling approximately 27 million shekels, from which the VAT amount is 4 million shekels - with the aim of illegally reducing tax liability.
The arrest request indicates that the suspect, owner of Ran Ofek Projects Ltd., submitted false reports to the Tax Authority starting in 2024, misrepresenting business activity.
The findings of the investigation so far indicate a sophisticated method of using false invoices to illegally offset input tax.
As part of the investigation, overt and covert operations were carried out, including searches and seizure of documents and computer materials.
The operations were carried out with the assistance of the Lachish Special Operations Unit and the Ashkelon Police.
This week, the suspect was brought before a magistrate's court judge in Be'er Sheva and released under restrictive conditions by the court.
The investigation continues.
