The chairman of the 'Unity' party, Naftali Bennett, pledged to allocate 10 of the first 24 places on their joint list to the 'Yesh Atid' party, led by Yair Lapid.

According to a report this morning (Tuesday) on Channel 2, the agreement between Bennett and Lapid will allow the opposition leader to secure a much higher number of real seats in the Knesset for Yesh Atid members compared to the polls in which his party was hovering around the threshold for the electoral threshold.

The large number of seats Lapid received in the joint party is expected to allow his party to split from Bennett's party immediately after the elections. Lapid will have more than a third of party members, the share needed for the split - a possibility Lapid wanted to keep for himself as part of the agreement.

A source involved in the union talks told Michael Shemesh: "Bennett was happy to give Lapid almost half of the list because 'he doesn't have the people.'".

Bennett and Lapid left the agreement open to changes, so that it would be possible to make various adjustments later, including in favor of including additional political figures - including Gadi Eisenkot, which could change the distribution of seats.

The two declined to comment on the news.
