Are you already getting into trouble? A day after announcing the establishment of a joint party called 'Together', Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid received a threat of lawsuit from the 'Together We Will Succeed' party - a joint Arab-Jewish party, registered with the Registrar of Parties, alleging "misleading use of a party name.".
In a warning letter sent before taking legal action, it was claimed that the name chosen by Bennett and Lapid was similar to the name of the party "Together We Will Succeed" in a way that could mislead the public.
According to the appeal, the mere use of the name 'Together', alongside publications that were quickly distributed and even appeared in sponsored search results, creates confusion regarding the party's identity.
It was also claimed that this is a violation of the Political Parties Law, which prohibits the use of a name identical to or similar to the name of an existing party, if it is likely to be misleading.
The letter requires Bennett and Lapid to immediately cease all use of the name 'Together' as a party name, and to announce this publicly.
The letter, sent by attorney Shai M. Marcus, who represents the "Together We Shall Overcome" party, was also sent to the Registry of Parties at the Ministry of Justice.
In the letter, 'Together We Will Win' warns that if Bennett and Lapid do not meet their demands, 'Together We Will Win' will resort to exercising its rights through all legal means at its disposal.
