The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment today (Thursday) in the Beer Sheva District Court against Asher Dolan Zakut, 48, and his son Shalev Dolan Zakut, 18, from Netanya - after they threw a grenade at a residential building in Ashdod.
The indictment, filed by Attorney Shira Musa Malka of the Southern District Attorney's Office, indicates that the defendants conspired to commit a crime and throw a grenade at a building.
About a month ago, late at night, the defendants arrived in their car from Netanya to Ashdod with a grenade in their possession. When they arrived after the streets nearby, they stopped their car, and one of them got out with the grenade in his hand, approached the building on foot, and threw the grenade toward the sidewalk next to the wall of the building, near a vehicle parked there.
The grenade exploded and its fragments hit several vehicles parked in the parking lot under the building.
As a result of the explosion, damage was caused to three vehicles, including significant damage to one vehicle worth approximately 20,000 NIS, as well as additional damage to other vehicles.
After throwing the grenade, the defendants returned to their vehicle and fled the scene.
In the arrest request filed at the same time as the indictment, Attorney Musa Malka stated that the defendants carried and transported a grenade capable of killing a person when it exploded, and threw it together toward the parking lot of a residential building, thereby significantly endangering human life.
The defendants were charged with the offenses of illegally carrying and transporting weapons, as well as attempting to destroy property using explosives.
In parallel with the indictment, a request was filed to confiscate the vehicle used to commit the offenses. The case was investigated by the Ashdod Police Station.
