
Hodiya Cohen, an 11th grade student from Haran High School, a resident of Moshav Nir Akiva in the south, won the title of winner of the World Bible Quiz for Youth for 2016.
The title of runner-up was awarded to Akiva (Jack) Schreier from the United States, a 10th grade student at the Yola Yeshiva.
The World Bible Quiz for Jewish Youth was held at the Jerusalem Theater, as part of the 78th Independence Day celebrations for the State of Israel. The event was attended by 16 outstanding youth from seven countries, after being selected from hundreds of candidates from around the world.
From Israel, Georgy Rybnikov, Hodiya Cohen, Yedidiya Mulayev and Yael Yao participated; from the United States, Akiva (Jack) Schreier, Yehoshua Applebaum and Hadassah participated; from England, Leah Gitel Ostroff participated; from South Africa, Tehila Ranels and Haim Goldfein participated; from Mexico, Sara Shashu Shlouch and Miriam Ditchie participated; from Panama, Jackie Panono and Alan Eitan participated; and from Canada, Michel Gamliel and Maya Varskin participated.

Among the members of the panel of judges were the Speaker of the Knesset, author of the questions, Liron Ben Moshe, the outgoing Bible scholar Elad Yanir, Avraham Revach, father of Major Dvir Revach; and Rachel Goldberg, widow of Rabbi Avi Goldberg, who fell in the Iron Swords War.
