Incident at the torchlight ceremony on Mount Herzl: The ceremony's production demanded that National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and his wife Ayala stand up from where they were seated in the "distinguished gallery" - claiming that they had taken the seats reserved for Argentine President Javier Milay and his entourage.
In addition, the production staff claimed that Minister Ben Gvir did not approve of his arrival at the ceremony.
According to a report by Michael Shemesh from Kan News, eyewitnesses said that Ben Gvir and his wife left the scene in a rage.
According to sources in the minister's office, Ben Gvir asked to sit next to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. However, Minister Miri Regev, who is in charge of the ceremony and the information center, refused his request.
According to the testimonies, Regev told the minister: "Only I sit next to the Prime Minister.".
Following the exchange of words and the feeling that he was not given the respect he deserved as a government minister, Ben Gvir decided to leave the compound with his wife, shortly after they arrived to honor the occasion.
Sources close to Ben Gvir attacked Minister Miri Regev, who was in charge of the ceremony, claiming that this was a violation of the statehood of the event: "It is very unfortunate that Miri Regev does not understand that this is a state ceremony in which all government ministers are supposed to participate. Minister Ben Gvir and his wife came to honor the ceremony, and it is regrettable that Minister Regev behaved in this way towards him.".
On the other hand, the ceremonies present a different picture of the incident.
According to their statement, there was no intention to harm anyone, but simply to maintain the pre-planned seating arrangements.
""Contrary to the announcement - Minister Ben-Gvir received a seat like the other ministers and senior staff, but apparently by mistake he sat in the place of the President of Argentina and his entourage. Minister Ben-Gvir was asked to sit in the place assigned to him.""
