The opposition leaders - Yair Lapid, Avigdor Lieberman, Naftali Bennett and Gadi Eisenkot - are expected to soon offer Blue and White Party leader Benny Gantz a deal: in exchange for renouncing his candidacy in the upcoming elections, they will lead to his election as president of the state.
The report on the proposal, published in Kan News, comes against the backdrop of Gantz's dismal state in the polls, in most of which he does not pass the threshold.
Those around Gantz denied that such an initiative existed.
Blue and White stated: "Blue and White will continue to lead the establishment of the Gush Am Yisrael - the bloc that will lead to the establishment of a broad, Zionist government without extremists after the upcoming elections. The spin as if the position of president was offered to Gantz by opposition elements is completely false and irrelevant.".
Gantz addressed the rumors surrounding the departure of his former partner Gadi Eisenkot on Channel 12 today, saying: "He left me due to personal political considerations, and that is legitimate. I don't think he brings any good news. There is only one solution - a broad Zionist government.".
