At the end of three rounds of negotiations between the US and Iran in Pakistan: US Vice President J.D. Vance said early Sunday morning that no agreement had been reached - and that "we are returning to the US without a deal.".

Vance, who led the American negotiating team, said in a statement he gave in Islamabad: "We held talks with Iran for 21 hours. The bad news is that we did not reach an agreement, but I think that is more bad news for Iran than for the United States. We were quite flexible and made clear what our red lines were - but Iran chose not to accept them. This was our final and best offer. We need to get confirmation that Iran will not obtain a nuclear weapon. We are returning to the United States without a deal.".

At the end of the conversation, Vance's plane took off back to the United States.

Israel estimates that the ceasefire may be extended to allow for continued talks.

The Americans have put forward a proposal that, according to an Israeli source, includes the removal of enriched uranium from Iranian soil. According to reports, the US has put forward a comprehensive proposal, demanding Iranian agreement to the terms. This is against the backdrop of American concerns that negotiations will be too complex and lengthy, and therefore Iran should simply "surrender.".

The Iranian news agency Fars reported, citing a source close to the Iranian delegation, that the American team "was looking for an excuse to leave the negotiating table." It was also noted that Iran currently has no plans to attend another round of talks.

A Pakistani source told Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that the American position on the Strait of Hormuz had become a central issue, and that the American delegation had asked to postpone the discussion of the issue until later. The Americans also demanded to discuss the issue of ballistic missiles - which did not happen.

The Iranian news agency wrote: "The United States demanded the removal of enriched uranium and management of the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian delegation tried to push the Americans to reach a joint working framework, but the excessive demands of the United States prevented this.".

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that agreement was reached on several points, but disagreements remained on two important issues, and therefore no final agreement was reached. "The talks took place in an atmosphere of distrust, and it is natural that we did not expect to reach an agreement in just one meeting.".
