Ugandan Army Chief of Staff Muhuzi Kayinrugbe, son of the Ugandan president, declared last night (Thursday) in a series of tweets on his X account, against the backdrop of the war, that if Israel faces an existential threat, Uganda will stand by it.
In a tweet that received hundreds of thousands of likes, Keinrogbe made it clear that his ambition is to see an end to the bloodshed, but emphasized that he will not accept attempts to destroy Israel.
He expressed extraordinary support when he wrote: "We want the war in the Middle East to end now. The world is tired of it. But any talk of destroying or defeating Israel will bring us to war. On Israel's side!""
In another tweet, Kienrogbe wrote: "The Ugandan military will enter this war between Iran and Israel, on Israel's side, if it does not end soon. Israel has a right to exist and the attacks against it must stop.".
The last official diplomatic visit from Israel to Uganda was a visit by Prime Minister Netanyahu to the country in 2020. The visit marked the deepening of the strategic alliance between the countries in a wide range of areas.
