Carmel Shama HaCohen, Mayor of Ramat Gan, fired his deputy, Attorney Roy Barzilai, head of the 'Free Ramat Gan' list, in a council meeting that was broadcast live.
Shama HaCohen was furious with his deputy for criticizing the conduct during the war.
""You brought four mandates, besides quarreling here with the whole world - come on, tell me, besides creating crises at every meeting? No, I'm telling the truth: with four mandates you could really do something for the residents, you could really have an impact - and you did nothing.".
He criticized Barzilai's conduct and implied that he was acting against the coalition he is a member of. "You are one foot in, one foot out, looking to have the best of both worlds. You should be in the opposition.".

Barzilai responded: "If you're a man, fire me.".
In response, the mayor ordered his office staff to prepare the dismissal letter - and declared: "The letter will be submitted tomorrow.".
