The Jerusalem Police have completed the investigation of Yitzhak Avraham Ruth Ariel Assulin, 61, and following intensive investigative activities, a serious indictment was filed against him yesterday (Monday) in the city's District Court.
The indictment was filed after the defendant was arrested three weeks ago - on March 4, 2026 - and his detention was extended from time to time. Throughout the investigation, police investigators collected testimonies from minors, and formed an evidentiary foundation for the commission of serious offenses by 7 minors aged 10-16 living in the Har Nof neighborhood.
The findings of the investigation revealed a sophisticated pattern of action on the part of the defendant, who took advantage of the Haredi neighborhood to establish contact with minors and harm them at various times.
In one of the cases described in the indictment, after the father of one of the minors revealed correspondence between the two and confronted the defendant, the latter did not let up and even escalated his actions. According to the suspicion, the defendant secretly provided the minor with a mobile phone in order to continue communicating with him without his parents' knowledge, while trying to incite the minor against his father and isolate him from his protective environment.
In the indictment filed by the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office, the defendant is charged with serious offenses of indecent assault on a minor under the age of 16 without his free consent, kidnapping and threats - this after in one case the minor shouted at a passerby: "Save him, this person wants to kidnap me.".
Only then did the defendant remove him from the vehicle and flee the scene.
Along with the indictment, a request was filed to continue his detention until the end of the proceedings.
