The IDF recently located a bunker containing thousands of bombs that are more than 50 years old, which were originally intended to hit Egyptian army bases in the days leading up to the peace agreement.
According to a report this evening (Sunday) by Itai Blumenthal on 'Kan News', the bombs are now being used by the IDF in the war against Iran.
Those bombs, which are considered "dumb" - without precision capabilities, are used by the Air Force to strike military bases in Iran, in areas that are not near population centers.
IDF sources explained that the decision to use the old bombs was intended to save money, and also to fill the bunker where the bombs were kept in relatively good condition.
The IDF Spokesperson's Office said in response: "The Air Force operates with diverse methods of operation and various weapons against the Iranian regime's targets. Choosing the type of weapons to use is an operational decision, which depends on many factors.
""The Air Force operates armaments only after a regulated process of testing their usability and ensuring the competence and safety of ground and air crews.".
