Hundreds of extremist lawbreakers demonstrated this afternoon (Thursday), causing intentional damage to property and public infrastructure, as they broke into the light rail work site located on Yehezkel Street in Jerusalem.
In response, the police used stun grenades against the extremist protesters. Some of the protesters arrived with babies in strollers or in their arms.
Despite this, the police did not hesitate to fire stun grenades at the protest site. Footage from the scene shows that the police used severe violence against the protesters.
When the demonstration ended, the police went on the offensive: "Troublemakers are cynically using toddlers and baby strollers to disrupt public order and cause great damage to infrastructure.".
The police accused the protesters of using babies as human shields: "Hundreds of rioters came to Yehezkel Street with the aim of causing damage to the light rail infrastructure, while forcibly breaking into the work site, confronting the workers on site - while cynically and dangerously exploiting toddlers they brought with them in strollers, who would serve as 'human shields' for them against the police forces.".
The police also claimed that "troublemakers used toddlers and strollers to block traffic routes.".
3 police officers were injured as a result of violence used against them by rioters.
