A series of assassinations in Iran: Israel eliminated last night (Tuesday) the Ali Larijani - Number 2 in the Iranian leadership, while he was near the capital city of Tehran.
Larijani is considered the decision-maker in Iran after the assassination of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. His elimination leaves a large void in the Iranian leadership and constitutes a significant ideological blow to the Iranian regime.
In addition, the IDF eliminated the commander of the Basij force, Gholam-Reza Soleimani - The commander of the unit responsible for the brutal repression of Iranian citizens, and Akram Ajouri, head of the military wing of Islamic Jihad.
According to a report on Channel 12, the assassination was planned for the night between Sunday and Monday, but was postponed at the last minute. Yesterday afternoon, information was received that Larijani was supposed to arrive at one of his hideout apartments. This is not his home, but one of the apartments he used. He was there with his son. "There is no way he survived this attack," says a security source.
Minister of Defense Israel Katz This morning, a situation assessment was held at the "Bor" together with Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, Head of the Defense Intelligence Agency Itzik Cohen, Home Front Command Commander Major General Shai Klapper, and other senior officials in the security establishment.
Katz said: "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I have instructed the IDF to continue hunting down the leadership of the regime of terror and oppression in Iran and to repeatedly cut off the head of the octopus and not let it grow.

Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir Earlier this morning, in a General Staff situation assessment, he revealed the attempts to assassinate senior Iranian regime officials, as part of the ongoing campaign against Iran and the entire axis of terror.
Zamir said: "The IDF continues to operate vigorously against a series of targets in Iran. Alongside the ongoing damage and erosion of military capabilities and industrial production capabilities, we are operating against elements of the Revolutionary Guards and the regime's oppressive elements.".
He added: "Last night, significant counter-terrorism achievements were also recorded that have the potential to affect the achievements of the campaign and the IDF's missions. This is in addition to the counter-terrorism operations carried out in recent days in Iran against foreign elements, also related to the Palestinian arena.".
He then referred to the targeted activity: "Among other things, senior figures involved in terrorist activity from Gaza and Judea and Samaria, who were hiding in a safe house, were thwarted in Tehran. The campaign against Hezbollah and the removal of threats from northern communities continues to constitute another major arena of activity.".
Zamir emphasized: "We are continuing to concentrate forces and expand ground operations. Cooperation between the IDF and the United States Army Central Command continues to tighten, and joint operations contribute to enhancing operational achievements. We will continue to act with determination to eliminate threats to the residents of the State of Israel.".
Even before the war, Larijani was considered the most influential and powerful man in the Iranian regime, and the one who actually runs the Islamic Republic.
He is also considered largely responsible for the brutal suppression of protests in Iran last January.
According to a statement from the IDF spokesman, for years Larijani was considered one of the most senior and veteran figures at the top of the Iranian terrorist regime and was close to the regime's leader, Ali Khamenei. After Khamenei's assassination, Larijani established his status as the de facto leader of the Iranian terrorist regime and led the fighting against the State of Israel and the countries of the region.
In his role, Larijani led the political-security coordination of the Iranian terrorist regime and was involved in directing international activity. During the recent wave of protests against the regime in Iran, Larijani led enforcement operations and violent repression and even personally oversaw the massacre carried out against Iranian protesters.
A few days ago, Larijani participated in the Iranian regime's "Jerusalem Day" march, in broad daylight. He marched with Iranian citizens by his side, apparently in an attempt to create a "human shield" for himself - and taunted the US president: "Trump does not understand that the Iranian people are a mature, strong, and willing people. He is wrong in his calculations; the more American pressure increases, the stronger the will of our people will only become.".
