Following the burning of the synagogue in Ramla and the police's suspicion that it was deliberate arson, MK Zvi Sukkot arrived at the scene and demanded the Shin Bet's intervention in the event: "Burned holy books and a burnt ark - this is not vandalism but part of a war on the Jewish people."”

The chairman of the Knesset Education Committee, MK Zvi Sukkot, arrived today (Monday) at the scene of the synagogue that was set on fire in Ramla, and called on the General Security Service to intervene in the investigation of the incident.

Sukkot arrived at the scene between Knesset hearings at the request of City Council member Harel Shoham, and toured the synagogue, which was badly damaged by the fire.

Sukkot: "I arrived in Ramla today between the votes in the Knesset and the scene of the synagogue that was set on fire in the city. This thing passed quietly in the media and it is so bizarre: burnt holy books, a burnt ark, an entire synagogue that went up in flames - when according to the police, it was a deliberate arson.".

According to him, following the incident, he contacted Shin Bet head David Zini demanding that the organization be involved in the investigation.

"This is part of a war on the Jewish people in the Land of Israel, not another incident of vandalism. This is an enemy with a blue ID who came and tried to expel us as Jews from the city, and this requires the handling of the Shin Bet.".

Ramle City Council member from the Religious Zionist side, Harel Shoham, who invited Sukkot, said: "I thank MK Zvi Sukkot who came especially to Ramle. This is a red line that was crossed by the burning of a synagogue in the Land of Israel - a red line of an enemy that has been operating in vandalism since 'Guardian of the Walls' and continues to harm us, and this time it has intensified the violence. The images of the burned synagogue require us not to let up and deal with the rioters in order to change reality.".
