Disasters on the way to the police station: 50-year-old man got off a bus during an alarm - and was seriously injured by a vehicle

Disasters on the way to the protected area: A 50-year-old man was seriously injured this afternoon (Monday) in a car accident that occurred during an alarm on Natan Elbaz Street in Kiryat Gat.

The man got off the bus following the alarm - and on his way to the protected area, he was hit by a passing vehicle.

Rescue forces called to the scene evacuated him to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba with multi-system injuries, while he was sedated and ventilated.

The police have opened an investigation.

Yanki Weinberg, paramedic and deputy head of the Kiryat Gat branch, and paramedics Dudi Hecht and Noha Sharabi from United Hatzalah: "We were informed by passersby at the scene that a pedestrian was hit by a private vehicle after getting off a bus on his way to a protected area - following the alarms. We provided him with initial medical treatment and he is being taken to a hospital for further treatment with a head injury, with his condition being described as serious.".

MDA paramedic Hila Talia Rinkoff said: "We arrived at a serious car accident that occurred after an alarm. We noticed a man about 50 years old who was unconscious and suffering from severe multi-system trauma. Those present at the scene told us that due to the alarm, the man got off the bus and was hit by a passing vehicle. We gave him initial medical treatment, which included anesthesia and ventilation, and evacuated him to the hospital, where his condition is described as serious.".

This case joins another tragic incident that occurred last Thursday in the city of Rehovot, where a 17-year-old girl was run over to death while making her way to the protected area following an alarm.
