Degel Hatorah chairman, MK Moshe Gafni, is celebrating tonight (Tuesday) the defeat of Bezalel Smotrich - after the burial of the dairy reform, a reform in the Minister of Finance's flag.
The dairy reform submitted by the Minister of Finance will not be enacted together with the 2026 Budget Law, after at the end of a meeting held today by Netanyahu and Smotrich, it was decided that the reform would be separated from the Arrangements Law and would move to a regular legislative process.
This means: it is highly doubtful whether there will be the ability to complete it before the announcement of the election date and the dissolution of the Knesset.
Gafni, who has consistently opposed the reform, said: "The decision to stop the milk reform during the war was correct. It is a responsible and appropriate step at this time. The reform would have harmed the livelihoods of hundreds of farming families, many of whom operate in the border areas and constitute an important part of national resilience.".
""Furthermore, it would create a dependence on importing milk from various countries - some of which are not friendly to Israel, enrich importers, create a problem with the issue of Acre milk, and all this without ensuring a real reduction in the price of milk for the consumer.".
He emphasized: "The decision to stop the move during this sensitive period is the right step that protects local agriculture and Israel's food security.".
