A group of worshippers in one of the synagogues in the Har Homa neighborhood of Jerusalem were given a tour of the wing where Nuhba terrorists are imprisoned, a Torah lesson, and lunch, in one of the guarded prisons in Israel.

According to a report by Roni Singer on Channel 12, the host of the worshippers was none other than the Commissioner of the Israel Prison Service, Kobi Yaakovi, a regular and longtime worshipper at the synagogue.

Prison Service facilities are not open to visits by citizens who wish to "get a feel" for them, and they have strict entry procedures.

According to the report, on the morning of the tour, a bus from the Prison Service arrived in the Har Homa neighborhood, collected about twenty worshippers from the synagogue, including the synagogue rabbi, and continued on to Nitzan Prison near Ramla.

The visit began with a tour of the prison's criminal wings, during which the worshippers also saw inmates. The highlight of the visit came immediately afterward when a group of worshippers were taken to the country's most secure security wing, where the Nuhba terrorists arrested after the October 7 massacre are being held.

Those present on the tour said that the detainees were shown to them lying on the floor and handcuffed. A source at the IPS said that this is how the detainees are held while operational activity is being conducted in the wing.

The Prison Service responded to Channel 12: "Prison Service officers accompanied a rabbi and his entourage to a Torah lesson in a criminal prison. During the visit, the rabbi and his entourage entered one of the prison's security wings to greet the prison fighters who deal with the harsh and cruel enemies of Israel every day.".

Regarding the question of funding the event, the Prison Service stated: "To remove any doubt, the Commissioner has again assumed that the transportation expenses will not come from the organization's funds." The Prison Service did not explain why the rabbi of the Commissioner's synagogue had to organize a Torah lesson in the prison in the first place.
