
The first round of talks in negotiations between Iran and the United States, which began today (Friday) in Oman, has ended.
Iran's state news agency, IRNA, reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi presented to his Omani counterpart, Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, a document defined as "Tehran's initial plan for managing the current situation and advancing negotiations.".
After submitting the outline and presenting the positions and reservations of both sides in the first round, Araqchi and his delegation embarked on a second round of consultations with the Foreign Minister of Oman.
Before the talks began, the Iranian Foreign Minister published a post on the X network in which he wrote: "Iran enters diplomacy with open eyes and a stable memory of the past year. We act in good faith and stand firm for our rights.".
He added: "Commitments must be honored. Equal status, mutual respect, and mutual interest are not rhetoric - they are an obligation and the pillars of a sustainable agreement.".
The Omani Foreign Ministry issued a statement stating that the Omani Foreign Minister held separate talks today with the two delegations, from Iran and the US.
According to the statement, the talks dealt with "creating appropriate circumstances for the renewal of diplomatic and technical negotiations between the two countries, while emphasizing its importance in light of the determination shown by both sides for the success of the discussions.".
'The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a senior American source, that the American delegation also includes Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of CENTCOM, the US military's forces in the region.
