Amit Segal, Channel 12's senior political commentator, addressed this evening (Sunday) a letter sent by families of kidnapped people to Gal Hirsch demanding his resignation, alongside allegations that he threatened them and politically manipulated the prime minister.

""Gal Hirsch says that they and Hamas basically spoke with the same voice. We all know that the videos released every Saturday from Hamas included messages that were almost identical - what was said in the demonstrations. For example, that Netanyahu is delaying a deal, that it is time to stop the war, that military pressure is increasing on the lives of those who were kidnapped. Those who returned later told what they were told to say and what the goal was," Segal began.

He emphasized: "There is a rule in politics - when two enemies run the same campaign - one of them is wrong. I can accept an argument that we and Hamas said the same thing - but we were right - because morally the State of Israel would benefit if it returned all the abductees. But don't gaslight us and tell us that it didn't happen. Say that on a moral level it was important. Don't say - Hamas said something and we said the opposite - because it didn't happen.

""There is an argument that was repeated in interviews with the abductees who returned and said that the demonstrations warmed their hearts - and this is completely true. The goal was not to say that the demonstrations are bad. The coordination that says there is only one way to return the abductees, to surrender, to withdraw, to end the war - all of them now and at any cost - was a serious mistake. It did not serve the return of the abductees.".
