After three days of respite: A winter system is expected starting tonight (Thursday), with heavy rains, thunderstorms, snow on Mount Hermon - and the danger of flooding and mudslides.

According to the Meteorological Service announcement, rain will begin to fall in the north of the country late at night and spread to Sharon, Samaria, and the center of the country in the early morning hours.

In the morning and afternoon hours of Thursday, the system will reach its peak with unusual amounts of rain of up to 100 mm in the Dan area, along the coast and in Samaria.

According to the Meteorological Service announcement, urban flooding is expected in these areas during the afternoon, and in the evening the rains will also move south to the central mountains, and there may also be flooding in the Jerusalem area due to the heavy rainfall.

The Meteorological Service urges people to avoid unnecessary travel.

At the same time, there is a concern for flooding in the streams of the Judean Desert, the Dead Sea, and the northern Negev. The public is asked to stay away from streams and flow channels, especially from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning.

On the night between Thursday and Friday, the rains will weaken in the north, but will continue in the center and south. Full calm is not expected until Friday afternoon.

A slight warming will begin on Saturday.

According to the data, most regions of the country are above average precipitation for the season - especially in the northern Negev and the southern coast. The significant deficit remains in the Upper Galilee and the northeast.
