Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply criticized the legal advice today (Monday) during a government meeting that discussed the closure of the Galei Tzahal station.

""It's not possible that legal advice is always against it. It doesn't make sense that they are always against everything the government promotes, even though there is an opinion from previous legal advice that supports closing Galei Tzahal. What has changed? Only the government.".

Minister of Settlement and National Missions Orit Struk added: "The IDF is the only IDF unit in which the desecration of Shabbat and the Jewish holidays is carried out on order, without any connection to security or the protection of life. This is another reason for closing the station, beyond the fact that it is a recommendation from three chiefs of staff - Eisenkot, Kochavi and Levy - and a basic ethical problem with the very involvement of IDF soldiers in politics.".

Strok also raised the problem of desecration of the Sabbath and the holiday by IDF soldiers and demanded that this also be addressed in the decision that is made.

Strok proposed at the meeting to transfer Galgalatz to the Ministry of Transportation, where it could return to its original purpose, as part of the effort to combat road accidents, and claimed: "Galgalatz does not function at all in the field of combating accidents, and the evidence is: it does not change its broadcast frequency according to road accidents.".

Transportation Minister Miri Regev added: "It is right to privatize Galei Tzahal, to a private entity. And Galgalatz should be transferred under the National Road Safety Authority. The Defense Ministry is concerned with protecting civilians, and this is the essence of the IDF's role, while Galgalatz also deals with road safety, and in my opinion it should be transferred from the Defense Ministry to the National Road Safety Authority.".

According to a report by Moti Castel, Channel 14's political correspondent, at the meeting there was a sharp attack by the ministers on the Deputy Attorney General, Gil Limon.

Minister Dudi Amsalem attacked: You are being promoted in your position! You are a dishonest person! There is an opinion from Avichai Mandelblit that approves the closure. What happened all of a sudden? Where were you with 'freedom of speech' when they decided to kick Yaakov Bardugo out of there? Maybe Ben Gvir could also be allowed to establish a broadcasting station in the police and call it: 'Policeman Waves'?

Minister Levin: You are abusing your position to distort reality.

Cabinet Secretary Yossi Fox: Regarding the issue of us being "on the eve of elections" (as appears in the opinion of the lawyer against the closure) - we are on the eve of elections just as we are on the eve of Sukkot...

Minister Shlomo Kari: Legal advice is in conflict of interest. Gali Baharav Mayara receives an advertisement worth millions funded by Gali Tzahal: 'We were exposed to many stories of powerful women, starting with Gali Baharav Mayara...' Therefore, your opinions should be thrown in the trash.

When it's a political appointment that you like, like Zamir, who was chairman of a committee as director general of the Ministry of Defense, a political appointment/trust of the minister - you praise him, but when it's a king whom I appointed as deputy director general, it's already politically biased. You're behaving like a Cossack who was robbed!

Minister Yoav Kish: This is a station that chose a line against the citizens of Israel.

Almog Cohen: Even if the High Court says otherwise, we have to tell the High Court no.

Minister Levin: Expects the government to stand by the decision to dismiss Miara and act accordingly.

Minister Elkin: The government's decision from 1950 was to establish Galei Tzahal for one year...

Amsalem: If that's the case, what legal foundation does Galei Tzahal even sit on?
