In recordings from the discussion held this morning (Monday) in the Ministerial Committee for Legislation on the establishment of a state investigation committee into the failures of October 7 - which were published in 'Kan News' - the ministers are heard attacking the judicial system and Supreme Court Justice Yitzhak Amit.
Minister Yariv Levin: "Regarding the President of the Supreme Court. As is known, there is a double dispute: both on the question of recognizing who claims to hold this position, particularly in light of his positions and conduct, and also due to the fact that the judicial system should be a central component of the factors that are supposed to be examined within the framework of the committee.""
Minister Zeev Elkin: "I am in favor of going down the path of a state commission of inquiry, only that Judge Solberg establishes it and not Amit.".
Minister Idit Silman: "As someone who is also on the Mandate Committee, there is a lack of trust in the Israeli justice system. It must be said that they deserved it honestly, certainly a Supreme Court justice who behaves with real legal criminality, like a legal pirate. The entire State of Israel sees that the hands of the justice system are deep, deep within the security concept of the State of Israel. I think that in the end the truth will come out.".
Government Secretary Yossi Fox: "This law, the Prime Minister also supports it. It's a law that's important to him.".
At the end of the discussion, the ministers approved advancing MK Ariel Kellner's Committee of Inquiry law, except for Minister Elkin, who opposed it, on the grounds that the clause according to which the Speaker of the Knesset will choose the opposition representatives if they refuse to choose should be amended.
The ministerial team will later convene to determine the mandate for the investigative committee, headed by Prime Minister Netanyahu.
