The Prison Service is considering establishing a security prison surrounded by crocodiles, near Hamat Gader - to prevent escapes.

According to a report this evening (Saturday night) by Yossi Eli on Channel 13, this is an initiative by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who claimed in a situation assessment discussion with IPS Commissioner Gonder, Lieutenant Colonel Kobi Yaakovi, that a prison would prevent escapes.

Although this was an unusual proposal, which was met with ridicule among several superintendents, the Israeli Prison Service began investigations into establishing such a prison.

One of the locations proposed for establishing such a detention facility for security prisoners is near Hamat Gader, with the crocodiles being brought specifically from Hamat Gader.
