This morning (Monday) at the DefenseTech conference, the head of the Israel Defense Forces, Dr. Danny Gold, addressed the new counterterrorism system and officially revealed that development of the 'Or Eitan' laser system has been completed.
""We are preparing to deliver the first capability to the IDF on December 30, 2025, and at the same time we are already working on the next generations," he said.
According to the head of the MAFAT, a series of experiments were carried out that proved the system's capabilities - which are expected to change the rules of the battlefield.
Gold added: "We are deep into work on the next generations of surprises for the next war, in space, in attack and defense, and we will deploy them at the right time.".
The DefenseTech conference was held this year for the second time in a row, with the participation of hundreds of representatives from around the world, and focused on technological innovation in light of the lessons of war.
Gold noted: "A number of startups competed against all the major industries in the MAFAT tender, and were chosen to provide the IDF with a set of attack drones.".
The 'Or Eitan' system is a powerful laser system for protection against all types of aerial threats - missiles, rockets, mortar bombs, unmanned aerial vehicles, and more.
It is equipped with a sight that allows for an upgraded range of action, high accuracy, and great efficiency, while maintaining its unique advantage: quickly neutralizing threats using a laser and at a negligible marginal cost.
