
Police officers from the Bnei Brak police station arrested a suspect last night - a member of the Jerusalem faction, who went on a rampage, jumped on the roof of a military police vehicle, caused damage and attacked police officers during an illegal demonstration in Ramat Gan.
The demonstration took place last Wednesday morning on Sderot Yerushalayim Street at the corner of Meir Baal Hanes in Ramat Gan, when military police arrived to arrest a yeshiva student who had defected. A violent demonstration erupted at the scene, during which rioters rioted, damaging military police vehicles and attacking police forces who arrived at the scene.
The police arrested two troublemakers at the scene.
After the demonstration, the police opened an investigation, collecting findings and evidence.
As part of the investigation, police officers at the Bnei Brak police station located a suspect yesterday evening who was filmed jumping onto the roof of a military police vehicle and causing damage.
The police located the suspect in his home in Bnei Brak, while he was hiding behind the wardrobe. The suspect, 25 years old, a resident of Bnei Brak, was arrested for questioning at the police station - at the end of which he was imprisoned.
According to the police, the suspect was being questioned for disorderly conduct in a public place, obstructing a police officer in the performance of his duty, simple assault, intentional damage to property, and intentional damage to a vehicle.
This morning (Monday), the suspect was brought for a hearing at the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court - and released to house arrest.
The investigation continues.
The police emphasize that "they will not allow the violation of public order in violation of the law, including harming police officers, damaging property, and symbols of government. The police will take strong action in any violent incident and will arrest any suspect.".
