The High Court of Justice today (Thursday) discussed the appointment of retired judge Yosef Ben Hamo to accompany the investigation of former Chief Military Advocate Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi into the leak of the video from the Yemeni field base.
During the hearing, a person sitting in the audience shouted: "Judge Amit, you are a criminal. Did you lie on Form 4 to the court, did you murder, and also inherit?" - and was removed from the courtroom.
Amit responded: "I'm glad the public sees how they are trying to intimidate the court and the lawyers who are doing their job - and this is an example of that. Of course, the guards will take out everyone who shouted and everyone who interfered - this is not negotiable.".
Judge Amit was also furious about the applause for attorney David Peter, who argued on behalf of Minister Yariv Levin.
Amit: "There's no such thing as applause in a courtroom. This isn't a theater, we're in a courtroom!"
Later, after several people from the audience shouted during the hearing and disrupted its proceedings, Judge Amit declared a break in the hearing and ordered the security guard to clear the hall of the audience.
The hearing resumed without an audience, and Judge Amit said: "These events repeat themselves time and time again, their seriousness cannot be underestimated. I don't know of any democratic country in the world that riots like this in its Supreme Court.".
